We have joined hands with the Hazira primary school authority to repair local schools. One of the beneficiary schools (in Navsari) was in fact established by the father of our nation, Mahatma Gandhi. We also installed a solar power system of about three megawatts at a school in Hazira, to enable them with green renewable energy.
Essar Ports established smart classes in a local school in Hazira to enable teaching through 2D/3D-based animation. The learning sources are available, among other modes, in PowerPoint and videos.
We also launched an awareness programme on Sustainable Energy for students at Navjagruti Vidyavihar School in Hazira in partnership with District Community Science Centre – Surat and Gujarat Energy Development Agency.
Essar Vision Centre, set up at Biju Memorial Hospital, Paradip, provides complete eye care services, including consultation with reputed doctors.
Essar holds regular blood donation, malaria, dengue and sunstroke camps across locations.

In our continued effort to help the nation fight Covid-19 pandemic, we have supported our centres with up to one lakh C-19 antigen test kits, PPE kits, masks and other related medical equipment.
Through the Essar meal project, we provided two million (20 lakh) meals to vulnerable communities whose livelihoods had been affected by the pandemic.
The project helped daily wage earners, transgender people, victims of domestic violence, slum dwellers, migrant labourers, ragpickers, orphans and adivasis.
During the pandemic induced lockdowns, the Essar health project was launched for helping protect front line workers like doctors, nurses, medical staff and sanitation workers, as well as police and CISF (Central Industrial Task Force) personnel.
We provided our COVID warriors with over 1.55 lakh kits of medical supplies, masks, PPEs, etc., for their safety.
In partnership with Essar foundation, we launched the rainbow project to work towards the empowerment of transgender community.
We also launched the sahej app that promotes awareness about menstrual hygiene, and provides women from all social classes with access to affordable menstrual hygiene products.
Essar foundation has also distributed over 600,000 sanitary napkins to women across the nation during the pandemic lockdown.
