essar ports specialises in the development and operations of ports and terminals. They handle liquid, dry bulk, break bulk and general cargo. The Ports business of Essar Global Fund is consolidated under Essar Ports. It is one of the largest private sector port and terminal developers & operators in India by capacity and throughput. It has four operational terminals in India across Hazira and Salaya (in the state of Gujarat) on the west coast, and one each in Visakhapatnam and Paradip on the east coast. Current operational port terminal capacity in India is 44 MTPA.
The ports business of Essar Global Fund Limited (EGFL) is consolidated under Essar Ports. It is one of the largest private sector port and terminal developers & operators in India by capacity and throughput, with four developed, operated & divested terminals in India – Vadinar & Hazira on the west coast and Vizag & Paradip on the east coast and with current operational port terminal at Salaya of 20 MTPA capacity. Essar has an overseas operating 20MTPA liquid port terminal in Stanlow, UK, which is integrated with the 10 MTPA Essar Oil UK refinery.

- cold-fog system is an advanced technology which uses ruby-orifice nozzles that create extremely fine water droplets, i.e., 1-15 microns, unlike in typical water sprinkling, with droplet size of 100-250 microns
- dust separation and water sprinkling systems in transport corridors and stockyards
- investing in systems to eliminate spillages along conveyor corridors
- minimal human intervention enhancing safety and security of facility
- vfd technology reducing power consumption for movement of cargo through conveyors
