Mr. Rajiv Agarwal is the Chairman of Board and Managing Director of Essar Ports Ltd. Essar Ports is one of the largest private sector port & terminal developer and operator in India. Mr. Agarwal is a Chartered Accountant with over 35 years of experience and has held various leadership positions in industries like Ports, Shipping, Telecom, Retail and Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO).
Under him the Ports Business of Essar has grown manifold increasing Port Capacity in India alone from 46 MMTPA in FY10 to 110 MMTPA presently and expanding. Under his astute leadership the company also saw successful divestment worth more than USD 2 Billion.
He is recipient of Port Personality of the Year 2019 at International Bulk Journal Awards, Maritime Personality of the Year’ 17 at Gujarat Star Awards and Port Personality of the Year’ 17 at Maritime & Logistics Awards. He has also been conferred with Maritime Standard Excellence Award’ 16 in Dubai for his contributions to maritime Sector. In the past he has also won the CEO of the Year Award in 2009 at Asia Retail Congress and was among the finalists for Asia Business Leadership Awards, 2015 by CNBC.
Captain Subhas Das is a Master Mariner with over 27 years of experience in the marine industry, having served at sea and managed onshore assignments with leading shipping companies such as Shipping Corporation of India and J.B. Boda Marine & General Survey Agencies Private Limited.
Capt. Das has been associated with the Essar Group for over 29 years in several roles and assignments. He joined the Group in 1992 as General Manager (Operations) in Essar Shipping Ports & Logistics Limited (ESPLL) and has also held other key responsibilities in ESPLL and Essar Steel Limited. In his previous role as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Essar Logistics Limited (ELL), he has been responsible for managing the operations and business development of the Company.
Amit Bapna is an accomplished professional with over 21 years of experience in Corporate Finance and Treasury, Accounting, Taxation, Incubating and developing businesses, Mergers & Acquisitions, Valuations & Structuring and Investor Relations. Prior to Essar, he was President and Chief Operating Officer of Reliance Capital Limited, overseeing capital allocation and overall strategy and business plans for Reliance Capital's key businesses, including Reliance Nippon Life Asset Management Ltd., Reliance General Insurance Co. Ltd., Reliance Life Insurance Co. Ltd. etc. Prior to Reliance Capital Ltd., Mr Bapna has held leadership positions at Reliance Nippon Life Asset Management Ltd. and Reliance Industries Ltd.
Sanjay Singh is an IIM (A) alumnus with over 23 years of cross-functional expertise in Port, Shipping, Inland Waterways Transport and Logistics. He is an astute leader and is considered as one of the most respected and trusted personalities of the Indian Port Industry across the nation.
He currently heads the Dry Bulk Business for Essar Ports. Previously, he has headed business development and marketing for Gopalpur Port (Shapoorji Pallonji Group), APM Terminals, Pipavav. He has also set up and headed centralized export logistics for Reliance Industries and has been associated with the launching of business for Mundra Port.
Shri. Sinha has done his B.Sc. (Engg.) in Mechanical Engineering from BIT, Sindri and has obtained his Masters in Business Administration from FMS, University of Delhi. He has over 40 years of experience with industry majors such as Petronet India Ltd., Indian Oil Corporation and Bokaro Steel Limited.
Prior to joining Essar, he was Managing Director at Petronet India Limited, a position he held since 2000. Shri. Sinha has served Indian Oil Corporation for over 27 years in various capacities. As Executive Director, IOC he was responsible for implementation of the entire pipeline projects of IOC.
Shri. Sinha is also Director on the Boards of various other Indian companies.
Smt. Alice George graduated from National Law School of India University in 1998 and has over 21 years of professional experience. Alice also completed a Masters in Development Management from London School of Economics, London, U.K.
Smt. Alice was a Partner with Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, a leading law firm in India, where she garnered significant experience in the areas of projects, infrastructure financing, outbound acquisitions and equity investments in the infrastructure space. Alice has represented private sector developers and private equity investors in various transactions and projects across sectors such as roads, ports and telecom. Alice has been featured and listed in several leading legal publications such as ‘Who’s Who Legal: Project Finance’, 2014 and 2015, Asia law (projects and infrastructure), 2016, Legal 500 (projects), 2016, 2017 & 2018 and IFLR Notable Practitioner, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020. Alice has also worked with Infrastructure Development Finance Company, a financial institution set up by the Government of India where she primarily handled project finance and government advisory services.
Smt. Alice has published papers and articles on the infrastructure sector in leading newspapers and journals including the Kluwer International Project Finance and PPPs (2013) and India Infrastructure Report (2002) and in the Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas blog.
Capt. Deepak Sachdeva is the CEO, Essar Bulk Terminal Ltd. He is a Master (Foreign Going) and a qualified Risk Assessor and Lead Auditor for ISO 9000, 14000, 18000 and 28000. He joined Essar Bulk Terminal Ltd., Hazira in 2019. In his current role, Capt. Sachdeva is in charge of managing the strategic, commercial and operational resources of the terminal along with business development and execution of long-term strategies for the Company.
Capt. Sachdeva joined the Essar Group in 1993 as a cadet in the Shipping Business Group and continued to become a Captain on a Suezmax tanker.
In 2005, he was assigned a challenging role as Port Captain. He was the Captain of the first ship in India to obtain ISO 14001 certification. Thereafter, he took over as Head, Marine Operations, Vadinar Oil Terminal Limited (VOTL) and has risen to the position of Chief Operating Officer at VOTL. He has successfully headed the marine facilities of VOTL. Capt. Sachdeva was an Executive Director on the Board of Vadinar Oil Terminal Limited and a Director on the Boards of Vadinar Ports & Terminals Limited and Essar Bulk Terminal Salaya Limited.
Prior to this, he was CEO of Essar Offshore Subsea Limited.
Besides his performance in terminal operations, Capt. Sachdeva has been responsible for securing several awards and certifications including the prestigious Sword of Honour and double five-star recognition from the British Safety Council.
Mr. Sant Khare has Over 30 years of rich experience and proven track record in the overall management of Sea Ports and Port based terminals such as CFSs / ICDs, Multimodal Logistics Hubs, Bulk Liquid Storage Terminals and related infrastructure projects in India and overseas.
He has successfully delivered on assignments in these fields including New Business set-ups and transforming existing set-ups by enhancing stakeholder’s value. Lead many assignments of critical business expansion in the past.
His immediate previous assignment was with Gopalpur Ports Ltd., a fast growing Bulk Cargo Port on the east coast of India.
By qualification he is a Civil Engineer and Post Graduate in Construction Management from JBIMS, Mumbai University. He is also an Alumni of IIMA.
CH Satyanand has over 31 years of experience in the Sea Logistics industry. He was the Head, Sea Logistics, Essar Shipping Ltd. from April 2007 to June 2013.
Mr Satyanand joined the Essar Group in 1989 as Senior Officer – Shipping and has contributed to the success of Essar’s Sea Logistics Operations. He has also ensured that Essar Steel’s Vizag pellet plant operated to its full potential and thereby contributed to its business growth in the past.
Currently, Mr Satyanand is the CEO of Vizag a position which he has held since 2013.
Mr. U Venkat Rao is the CEO for Essar Bulk Terminal Paradip Ltd. He is a science graduate with a PG Diploma in EXIM management and over 22 years of experience in the Ports and Logistics industry. He has served in the Logistics and Port sectors with leading companies such as N.R. International Limited, Mundra Port and SEZ Ltd., and Krishnapatnam Port Company Limited.
Mr Rao has been associated with the Essar Group for over a year and is actively involved in the development of port projects at Paradip. He is also working on various new projects and new business initiatives for the Company.
Mr Rao has been responsible for project development, managing operations and maintenance and business development of the Company.
