Essar was one of the first private sector movers in India’s maritime sector. Starting with the construction of outer breakwater at Chennai port, Essar was quick to expand its horizons to shipping by being one of the first private players to procure a tanker. After moving into logistics and manufacturing in a big way, Essar gained further maritime expertise by developing and operating port facilities on both the east and west coasts of the country. The integrated business module of Shipping, Ports and Logistics was later de-merged to provide critical focus to each segment of business, thereby giving birth to Essar Ports. Since then, Essar Ports has further leveraged its sector experience, and invested in building and expanding its port capacities. Here’s a quick snapshot of the evolution of Essar Ports.
Since 2006, Essar Ports expanded its ports operations considerably, and within close to a decade, we established our presence at 4 strategic locations on the east and west coasts of India.
